A List of stuff

Sorry for the long awaited Blog ... I have been a busy little bee.

Ok just to start off I am a list person .. I am not good at the whole making a great story (i wish i was but) I like to get to the point of things. So to start off....
  • Thursday of last week started with my trainer and getting some km's in for the week as OH is away and i cant get out and ride. Well about 45mins in and my chain comes off and some how I end up on  the floor with half of my bike on me and with my elbow in the wall.. I still have not worked out what went wrong. All i know is that my elbow hurts and my bike is ok .. so not to bad but very funny my trying to explain to OH what the hole in the wall is all about. So the competition for falling of ones bike has been with Jess for a while now think i get it now for my effect!
  • I got email on Thursday evening asking to be on the bench for First team...I didn't reply to it as i have burnt some bridges and thought that it must have been a mistake.
  • Friday was busy with a conference call to the US for 6 hrs (some ppl have no life)
  • Saturday OH was back home YIPPEEE and we hit the beach for a good 3 hrs.. OH surfing and Little Miss and I built some great sand castles and  did some swimming (GREAT morning) then I did a swim session when OH come in from surfing, went home and for a nap. 
  • Saturday afternoon was my run ..and it was a crap run. I think the morning in the sun took it out of me (funny how much energy a morning at the beach uses up). Slow and hot but i still finished it (bad bad time :(
  • Sunday was my ride but it was my parents Birthday's during the week (three days apart) so we had a birthday breakfast with my family at a cafe about 45mins south on DST so an hour earlier too at 8amDST.  so we had to leave by 6.15am (yes i know!!). Breakfast was bad I was not happy with it at all, I ordered Bacon and eggs. What i got was FAT and oil grr I didn't eat much of it just the poached eggs. After Breakfast we where suppose to go back to my mothers house but i spoke to OH and told him I want more family time for us as he has been away all week. So we headed back home and back down to the beach to build more sand castles :) we spent another 2hrs there then head back home for lunch. I was suppose to ride to the pool and then to Hockey but I made I decision to put more family time in as I did do a swim session on the Saturday in open water.
  • Sunday afternoon was Hockey Seconds team with the First team play straight after. I arrived late (as Little Miss need a sleep from the beach) I was on the bench to start with. Which is fine and i was only on the bench for about 10mins then I was on the field for the rest of the game. I made a point to work on my problem areas. We lost 2-0 and it was a very very physical game. I walked away with 1 hit to my knee cap left leg by the hockey ball. (it is currently the size of a large melon) 2 hits to my right shin (yes i had shine guards on )1 was with the ball and the other with a stick and the last hit was to my left foot from a hockey stick trip. I was walking off the field thinking that i need to get some ice on my knee and foot when the coach for the first team asked me to play in the first team for there game that was next. I looked at OH and Little Miss on the side line and and he gave me a node. I went to get some ice and sit down on the bench when the coach told me that i was in the starting line up. (this shocked the hell out of me i can tell you and OH) Its funny in the back of my head i was thinking. its only till someone else gets here and he will pull me off so do the best you can and prove that you can play in first . By the time half time had finished. I was dehydrated and in need a sports drink, I signed to OH but Little Miss was being Miss Cranky and he was to busy. I just thought that i would be able to get one soon anyway as i would be on the bench for the second half of the game (we had 3 on the bench) But that didnt happen I played a full 70mins of hockey in first plus my 60mins in seconds I was stuffed by the end of the first game and my knee was killing me. We had our team talk at the end of the game. The coach said he was impressed with my fitness and that I played well (another shocking moment) He then told me that he is happy for me to play two games a weekend when I am needed in Firsts. 
  • On the way home in the car I talked to OH about this, and I think i am nuts!!!! Because I want to do it ... But only if I fits in my weekend .. so OH and I when over the rules for me playing two games of a Sunday. 
    • I need to know the day before if i am needed so we can plan the next day.
    • the games can not be too far apart example game at 10am then one at 4pm (as travelling time to hockey is 30mins each way)
    • Little Miss comes first and if i am late to hockey too bad (so i have to shut up and not drive like a dick to get to hockey)
    • OH need to have his sport time too. 
  •  Training will still be an issues as i can't make it for the next 4 weeks (coaching)and then the Month of May OH is away the WHOLE month :(
  • to make up for OH being away the WHOLE month we are going on a small family holiday to Melbourne. 
  • After I get back from Melbourne OH is away for 3 days then I am off to Townsville for State titles for 3 days.
  • I have my first Tri in 2 weeks .. (just hoping i am not playing 2 games of hockey after :( )
  • All my bosses are on holidays at the moment and I am running the show! That why I have taken 4 days to write this blog. 
  • I hate having to edit a blog 10 times to update facts because i have not had time to post it grrr!
  • I also did a swim session yesterday and 3 hrs of Hockey training
  • My knee still hurts
  • training tonight may not happen due to my knee :(  i need to get the swelling down.
  • more Ice needed! 
Thats it for the moment as I need to eat and this is my lunch break ..

    Ok, I totally still get the medal for falling off my bike, I did mine in public, lol.
    AND I am still sore from it (a month later :P)

    w00t for the hockey! Never mind the blue with the coach, you just do the best that you can.

    I am on call Anzac day weekend, so I will be around (due to not being allowed to go further than 30 minutes from work, boo) so we can do a run or something if you're keen. I might check my little book of tracks and see what's around.

    Last thing... whoo for family time!
    I get that starting Saturday, not with OH, but with my parents and brother. Haven't seen my brother since Christmas I am sure... anti-social so and so...

    And of course you can write a good story... but that would have been a long one!!

    I am super nervous about this Tri in two weeks too! but I am all registered and paid up. Just focus on my training till the week before and then i will freak out!!!

  4. OK, ummm, just making sure I got this right. Your chained popped on the trainer, thus popping your bike off the trainer? Or just made you and the bike on the trainer fall over? One of 2 things happened, either A) you pedalled backwards for a second or B) down shifted from your big to your little and stopped pedaling for a nano second while you did it.

    I thank you for sharing the sand castle story, I will admit, when I hit the beach, first and only thing that pops in my mind is OWS practice. I need to goto my beach and just relax one of these days (ya right)

    I will bow down and worship the ground you walk on with you play 2 games of hockey after your tri!!! That is seriously hardcore. I can barely move after races.

    You will rock you tri, trust your training. This week is you last week of serious workout, get in what you can, but keep your knee healthy. The week of the tri, lets say its on Sunday for example purposes, you can start hard, BUT you need to taper off. Its a shorter tri, so you dont need to taper a full week, but you need to taper. Your fitness levels will not grow enough in a week to make a serious dent in your race. Plus your body needs to recover so it is ready for the race.

    tri week:
    Monday - Hard
    Tues - Hard
    Wed - Light
    Thurs Light
    Fri - OFF, do not work out 2 days before your tri
    Sat - super light
    Sun race day

    Trust your training and your fitness

    AND

    Remember

    The race is the reward for all the hard work you have put in.
