As well as all the cleaning and pulling things all apart n back together again. I got all my tri stuff ready. (the first prep) I will go thou this another 4 time (yes i am mental) and then spend Saturday morning looking it all over making sure i don't have too much and that i have everything ready. I am like this for Hockey event's so i know that i am going to be the same with this.
I still need 2 things
- Gels - not that i will need them but i think i will have 2 just incase. Might need them for my Hockey games after though.
- My race belt - I have been to just about everywhere on the gold coast and noone has any left in stock. I have just sent OH and Little Miss out to look in the last shop that stock them .. cross your fingers. i have a back up plan and its a big long pieces of back elastic tried in a knot that i can pin the race number too and pull it over my head and down to my waist. so its not the end of the world so to speak.
Thank you everyone for all your warmth and wisdom on my quest to my first Tri. I started talking to a guy at swimming yesterday about my Tri on the weekend (he is a big Tri fan and has competed in a number of them until his shoulder reconstruction) He was giving me all this advice and I was thinking at the time that just about everything he has telling me I had already have be told this by Mel, BDD or Jess. It was very re-shoring. So A HUGE
THANK YOU
I will fill you in on the race report on Monday, I also have a game of Hockey @10am after my Tri which is going to be fun and another game at 1pm. The Hockey fields are about 2minutes from where Tri is being held. The course even goes past them. Plus every time I am over thinking my tri I remember that i have a game after that i have to think about as well - so keeps me busy.So if i can play two games after my first Tri I know there is a Iron women in me!! one day ;)

Food suggestions - bagels are my favourite and they're a complex carb so give you lots of energy. Someone told me once to avoid liquid breakfasts like protien shakes etc as they easily come up from nerves beforehand and on the swim (I agree - and I don't think I could stomach something like that before a race). A museli bar might be good as well.
ReplyDeleteI'm so excited for you!! I'll be thinking of you :) Everything will be crossed for you xoxoxox
Best of luck Trace. You will do GREAT. You have put in the hard work and now you just have to get out there and let it happen.
ReplyDeleteI have everything crossed for you but I know you will be brilliant!

Something light thats has carbs in it as well as some protein so you dont feel hungry on the coarse. Bagel with peanut butter and banana is what I do.
ReplyDeleteI am glad your not exercising today, you will be fresh for your race.
Print out a list of everything you need and triple check it, lay it all out on the floor and recheck it all before you pack it.
Use just one bag for everything, too many stories of people of packing multiple bags and forgetting one at home.
Make sure your tires are filled the morning of the race, I always pump mine up before heading out to a race. Properly inflated tires mean faster and easier bike leg.
Pay attention to the transistions part of the clinic
If they dont go over it at the clinic, just watch others set up theirs.
take your time in transition, make sure you have what you need for before you head out on the course.
take a good mental picture of where your tranistion spot is, even I have gotten lost more then once in transition looking for my spot. You can tie a ballon to your T rack to find it easier, I see it all the time, its a great idea.
OH is your sherpa, use him, your gonna be a little scattered brained because of the event, he will be the one that is relaxed and level.
Remember to smile crossing the finish line, remember someone will be there taking pictures.
And most importantly have fun!!!!!! Race your race, stay in your zone, focus on what your goals are, dont worry about others, trust me, 70% of the people there are thinking the exact same thing as you.
You put in the effort and time, now enjoy your reward!!!!
Good luck, and soon you will be known as Trace the Triathlete, has a nice ring to it, doesnt it. Arnt you excited to be part of the club
