So much to tell
Ok first I am currently grounded at the moment, for staying out too late on Sunday night with the Hockey girls, OH was not happy when i arrived home at 10pnm when I told him I would be home at 8.30pm. I don't envy Little Miss when she is older. don't think she is going to be allowed out till she is about 24.
Hockey is over - yep first week with no hockey training - I think am having withdrawals already.
Training - good, bad and just plan ugly. Bike is good but i still need more km's in them, I did bust out a 33km ride in 55mins the other day .. not too bad for little old me. Running grrr I am doing it but it is not the greatest fun in the world, I am focusing on my breathing and just getting into a rhythm on tried legs, The last three time I have been doing an RPM class then jumping straight on the treadmill for about 5kms. Then going home and cooking dinner for everyone, It is smashing me but I am getting better.
Swimming is my biggest problems at the moment. Steve tells me i have no power in my kick (even after all the riding and running) and that half the time i don't even kick when i swim. It seem that I only use my arms to pull me along and that if i can add a good kick in there that i really get some speed. Oh there is so much to learn.
I am doing a small tri this weekend to see how i am coming along with things, 500m swim/14km Bike/4.5km swim this is about half the distance of my sprint in a couple of weeks. Hope it will put a fire up my bum!
I did a big swim at lunch today and focus on my kick, this afternoon is running - as I don't have hockey training I am doing some strength training and a 7km run. Tomorrow is hills on the bike ... which i am going to need as the course for this weekend has some huge FOObaring (thanks Ross ;) ) hills in it.
wish me luck

LOL!!! Grounded!!! LOL!!!
ReplyDeleteI, one time, tried the grounded thing, then I was grounded from something because of grounding her, I quickly released her grounded status. LOL
Interesting what he said about the kick, I bet you have runners kick, but in my personal opionion, wouldnt you want to say your legs for the bike and the run? I am not a coach, but it makes sense to me.
Look, I gotta agree with BDD here... I am often one of the fastest swimmers in the field, and I don't kick at all!!
ReplyDeleteAnd my coach has pretty much told me I was a perfect tri swimmer. I do just that, I save my legs for the ride and run. Cos damn, I need them!!
Thing is, for a lot of people (without my butt...) is they sink if they don't kick and end up with the wrong position in the water.
So maybe tri some laps with a pull buoy, and see how you go with the position, and then dip your head a little lower in the water to mimic that when you take it out.
Email, text or call or something if you want me to talk you through it a bit, but I wouldn't panic about not kicking in the swim! Although, it does make the chances of people grabbing your legs a little smaller ;)
