tapper week

I would just like to give my brother in the US a big shout out! as he has done a PB on his 5 th race!

70.3 Augusta Ironman ( 1/2 )
PBR Swim 29min
Bike 2h37min in rain
PBR Run 2h20min
Total PBR 5h35min "this race is killed"  He has been training like a mad man and has entered the Ironman Cozumel 2010 (Full) in November .. Nuts yes but he has worked (and is still working very)hard for this and I would like to wish him the best of luck! He will be coming home at Xmas so I am looking forward to all the stories and some training tips.

Ok first things first .. the week/weekend round up.

I did a lot of swimming and riding this week and you can see the results in my tri but I didn't do enough running and I think its really going to hurt me this come sunday :(

Tri on Saturday Morning
Swim 500mtrs 10.49mins (improvement on last week )
Bike 14km - 36.12mins ( One full minute improvement)
Run 4.5km - 25.42mins (:( 30secs worse off then last week and I felt so good, sh*t )

Total 1hr:13mins.13sec (30sec off my total from last week 1:13.47 )

Sunday was another open water 2km swim in my wet suit, getting ready for this weekends big Tri! I am still not a fan of open water ( and I have swam in it all my life ) but the creek is so dark and I can't see much which scares me. The Gold coast tri events water is going to be the same, dark and deep so that's why the training must continue. I looked up my wave event and I start at 6.12am the swim is ok but the bike ride is a little insane lets hope its all marked well!

My goals for this weekend
  • Swim - don't panic let everyone go first and stick with them
  • Ride - be smart and refuel water water save some of your legs and know that this is your best leg so over take as much as you can with out pushing to hard
  • Run - get your legs in a nice rhythm and breath. I am going to walk at the water stations if i need too.
My running is me weak point and will take me time to develop it but for now I will do what I can. My main goal for this weekend is about me! There are personal reasons why I entered this race. I can not loose focus of that during the race!

I also get to meet Mel on the weekend!! Which if I didn't have a Tri to do I would be every excited about. I will be cheering her on as soon as I finish and I hoping to have a beer or two at the end!

  1. You're going to do fine!! I just read the competitor booklet and they are going to have the swim course set up on saturday. If you have time, try and familiarise yourself with the first couple of turning bouys as its a bit of a zig zag...and then its one less thing for you to think about on Sunday morning :) Enjoy it because its all about you!
